Does Carmax really give you the cash price they say they'll give you on the internet?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

My buyout is $ 31,000, dealerships have offered me $ 33,000 to $ 35,000 on a trade (that in and by itself that made me giddy, I thought I was going to pay up to $ 2,000 to dump the car)

Carmax said they'll buy my car for $ 38,600, are they full of shit?

This is how it used to be

go to Carmax and let them drive your car. They will give you what they would pay for your car and this offer is valid for 7 days.

bring that into the dealership and the dealership should either match or beat it

Used cars are in demand right now. Especially if they are in good shape.

I took my trade in there at the request of the dealership to get it appraised. CarMax offered significantly more than the trade in value from the dealership.

The online figure is an estimate and they book an inspection appointment at your convenience. I was in and out of CarMax in about an hour. After the inspection and photos you have to wait for them to research the figures which took about 45 minutes.

I had a good experience there

Good, glad to hear that

I was thinking they get you there and everything changes. I answered everything honestly, even told them it needs 4 new tires. I have the originals on the vehicle now, 36k miles on them

Get a quote from Carvana. For me, they did exactly what they said they were going to do, they were ontime and handed me a check. You just need a VIN and some car info.

They actually offered me more than the online quote. Probably depends on the condition (mine was exceptional) and how bad they want the car.

Just did Carvana, they offered me $ 29,000

Maybe it's about the type of vehicle they're looking for at any particular moment in time

Carmax made a firm offer of $ 36,400 today, $ 5,000 more than my lease buyout. Found money baby

If anyone is looking at a Lexus, this speaks volumes for the brand (and I'm not even trying to get the best price)

Maybe your MAGA bumper sticker took 8k off the price?

I kid I kid :)

BTW, at Carmax today I parked next to an old jeep with two bumper stickers

"Trump" and "Make Democrats Work Again". I thought it was funny considering this post some 2 hours earlier

No, the financing is already in place. The dealership was taking my car and giving me 2K credit, so now I just have to come up with 3K less at closing, which I'll just add to my mad money chest
